Ubiquity Server Review – Bad Servers

Ubiquity Server which is located in Chicago, IL also found on the web at http://www.ubiquityservers.com/ is the worst datacenter that we have ever done business with “EVER.” We would not even recommend them to our worst enemy or even our competition. To begin with their service is unpredictable, starting with their network, their security, and most important the servers that they lease to their customers. Due to their incompetence they have caused us to lose customers and money.
One of the servers we leased from them apparently had an outage. It took over 1 week to figure this out after the server kept going offline. Of course they just said to reboot it, or it could be a script running. Yah right!! It turned out that the motherboard on the server went out. Now here is where it gets interesting, they never had a replacement motherboard to put into the unit. Keep in mind that most legitimate datacenters have a monitoring system setup to monitor server hardware issues, not to use the customers as a guinea pig or a test dummy. They told us that they would have to order a replacement part that would take 3 – 5 business days for it to arrive. Remember that this was a working server with business and client data on it that are required to run different client operations. Of course we told them that it was unacceptable and that we needed a resolution ASAP. It took them about 2 – 3 days for them to give us another server that was a different brand. Now here is where it gets more interesting…..
The server they provided had different raid architecture than the previous server and now it gave an issue for them to get the data off the old hard drives. It took them another 1 – 2 days for them to tell us that their senior techs could not retrieve the data. WOW!!!!! Their senior tech was located in India, not in the USA. Another WOW!!!! Neither that person or any of their techs in the USA could retrieve our data off the hard drives. (Then in the midst of that was saying that the data was our responsibility).
To resolve that issue, we had to get our technicians to retrieve the data. The total process took almost 2 weeks to get things back to where it was before the server’s hardware failed.
To summarize everything, Ubiquity Server kept quoting their terms and conditions. Funny thing is when we paid them monthly for the servers there was no mention of their terms of service 🙂 .
So as stated above, we would never recommend them to anyone. As a matter of fact, stay away from those guys.

How did card service scammers get my info?

The question many people often ask themselves is, how did card service get my information?

There are a few place where they get information like this. At the top of the list we will put Craigslist. In our next post, we will show you how dangerous posting on Craigslist can be at times. Craigslist is not the only site. What these modern day scammers do is something called “scraping.”

I’m very sure Craigslist know about this, and it’s time for them to do something about it. What is the sense of using the site when your information is handed over to scammers?

Well what is scraping? Scraping is mainly done by using bots (softwares that do repeated tasks as humans) that constantly scans websites like craigslist and gether information that is stored in a database. Then once the information is stored, it’s then filtered and they keep things like: your emails and phone numbers. These are normally the things people use when they put an ad on Craigslist.

The information is then imported over into their calling list. Most of them use VOIP servers that have VOIP SOFTWARES setup that can easily import the data. Once the data is imported, they then use VOIP PROVIDERS that gives them SIP TRUNKS (voip phone lines). These sip trunks normally allow what is called “CALL MASKING” which gives them the ability to change their phone number to even bogus phone numbers. So when they call out, it shows up something different on your caller id. It may allow show a phone number that when you call it back, it my be programmed to HANG UP ON YOU.

Card Service scammers are so stupid and lazy that, they don’t even cross reference their data against the Do Not Call list. Which is even more reason whey there should be a class action lawsuit against them.

It’s full time for the U.S. Government and the FBI to get off their ASSES and put that SCAM company out of business and in jail. They need to stop bugging peoples phone and go after the real scam.

Fonality Review – MUST READ

Fonality Review

Fonality Review from a customer of theirs.

Fonality should stick with just doing software development rather than experimenting with phone service. It is something that is 101% out their business model and something that they are incapabale of doing successfull. This is not an OPINION, its our story with them thus making it a FACT.

We decided to try Fonality based on a few things:

1. Their services at the time seemed reasonable but then we found out that cheap = downtime and excuses for lack of proper service.

2. Their sales person “(name removed as per person’s kind request)” make a lot of promises that sounded so promising but in the end turned up to be half lies. Even the part about referral payments for clients referred to them.  From our experience, their sales people who make false promises as to say “refer us some people to take advantage of our ‘expiring offer’ and we will give you “x amount of $$ per referral”.  We are still waiting for the check in the mail since then.  When we contacted this person about “keeping their word” they came up with some lame excuse as “hey I got promoted and you have to ask someone else about that”.

3. Their billing department was available during the beginning, then NO ONE was available for about 3 weeks. You had to leave them voicemails or send emails to discuss a billing issue.  It seems that their billing department has about 2 – 3 people working in it but they boast about have over 5,000 clients.  The question is, how can such a small billing department handle all the billing request of that many customers.  Keep in mind as per one of their billing person recently, they just hire more people 🙂 due to the overwhelming new boom in business????????

4. We were told by their sales people that some of their support personel left companies like “Packet 8” and other companies to work for Fonality. But, when you call these support people, 90% of the time you CAN NOT get them on the phone.

5. We ported a number in to them, but when the port finally went through, they DID NOT set it up in their system which resulted in over 1 week loss of important calls and business.  (Name Removed) from their porting department came up with excuses saying that it was our job to call them and that it was our responsibility.  If this were so, why is it that they are the first ones as a ‘wannah be’ phone company that ever came up with this excuse?  We’ve even done business with smaller VOIP companies before and never got a lamer excuse than that.  Obviously they clearly don’t believe in “the customer is always right” even when Fonality was clearly wrong and tried blaming us for their crap.  The person from the porting department also never even apologized for their lack of.  She then started to blame the support department and asked me to call them to resolve the issue.  She was also  blaming the support department saying that they were responsible for setting up the number in their system.

6.  Their call quality sounded good at first but then even that started to go down the drain.  They tried blaming the ISP (changed it 2 times), and they blamed the routers (changed that too).  The real secret that is hidden is we found out after making a phone call to an Associate that Fonality is using Broadvoice as a backbone provider.  For those of you who don’t know of Broadvoice, they are a company like Vonage, BUT their call quality is horrible and their customer service is worst than their service.  They also have issues with porting away numbers from them.  They actually deny ports and we have proof of that too since we were once Broadvoice customers and had a rumble with them.  Just to further inform you, GNAPS (The carrier) and Broadvoice have the same owners.  (We will write a review on broadvoice soon)

7.  They seemed organized and had it together at first (all sales talk) BUT, when we started to face issues we started to get the run around.  From sales, to billing, to support, to porting.  We did have a big issue when we got some new numbers at first from them and found out the next day that the numbers stopped working.  This happened several times with different phone numbers issued by them.  It took about 3 days for them to fix something as simple as giving WORKING NUMBERS to use for doing business.  We got so frustrated that we almost called their carrier (because they made a big mistake and forwarded us an email with the carrier information – which is to show you how dis-organized they are).  They were using Inphonex or Varphonex for the DID’s (phone numbers).

To top things off.  Not long ago they had a NON WORKING NUMBER on their site (keep in mind this was the number we used to contact them all the time) and when we called it, it was giving some bogus messages.  How can a phone company have a none working phone number?  A phone number (DID) only costs about $1 or less plus trunk or minute usage.

Overall we rank them as a 1/10 due to all these issues.  As mentioned above, they are better offer sticking to software development (which they are good at) as they are the developers for Trixbox which is used for VOIP Phone servers.  Fonality seems to want to put other VOIP companies out of business (as per the proud sale talk), but the way they are going now is down a road of putting themselves out of business and possible some of their customers.  We lost business due to their lack of.

For now Fonality’s business phone service is more bark than bite and we would like people to learn from our experience before jumping to a company based on only price and nice sales talk.  At the end of the day, when you have a business to run or operate, you need your phones.

Metro PCS vs Sprint

Metro PCS vs Sprint? This question has been asked many times and people generally give the wrong answer. Here is our answer towards this question. Being a Sprint customer for almost six years and a customer who also had Metro PCS, they’re both almost the same. You will see though that Metro PCS offers more for the money and their service is on a mass expansion compared to Sprint.

As far as the money goes, Metro PCS gives you much more for your dollar. Sprint on the other had is VERY EXPENSIVE when compared to Metro PCS. Both with their phones and the plans.

When it comes to the network, based on trial an error. Metro PCS has come a far way from the last on the list to be a worthy competitor of Sprint. Based on our testing, there were times when we were in different spots that Metro PCS was much more better than Sprint. Sprint boasts on its network, however Metro so far has a better network coverage wise vs Sprint. This is based on the towers being in the same rural area. This is also based on making calls, not browsing the internet via the phone devices.

Sprint boast of their 4G network, but where are the phones to support this network? 🙂
This is like building a road with NO CARS to drive on it. Does this make any sense?

Customer service, Sprint has a better customer service, however there are agents who tend to log calls to cover their ass. Meaning they often make you look like the lier just to cover their tracks. Metro PCS is working on building their customer service. They have come from a far.

Contracts. Sprint wants to get you into a contract. Metro PCS, you only need to buy a phone and you typically get the first month of service free. If you have a Sprint phone, most of the time you can have Metro PCS flash it with their software. However sometimes you will have certain limitations.

Features, Metro PCS has some pretty nice features like their Caller ID. Meaning, you can see who is calling even if their are not stored in your phone book. It is not brought to our attention that Sprint has this feature.

International Calls, Metro has a plan where you can make international calls to 100 countries for only $5. This includes unlimited calling to those countries. Sprint does NOT have this feature or anything close. You would think that a company like Sprint that has been around all these years would have something like this.

Text Messages, Metro PCS gives you unlimited international text message. Sprint charges you $0.20 per international text message sent or received.

Is Life Insurance Really That Important?

Many people even ones in business overlook the importance of having life insurance.  Life Insurance, known to many as death insurance is not as bad as it seems.  Look at it this way:  if you were in a situation where you had a lot of bills and you died, did you know that your family (wife or husband especially) gets hounded by bill collectors trying to collect that debt?  Life insurance in important and can be as cheap as $199 a year for a $1,000,000 policy, maybe even less depending on who you go through.  What that means is, if you die and owe say $100,000 in bad debt, your family is safe… taking into consideration that you had a decent life insurance plan with at least $250,000 coverage.  With that amount, your family could be taken care of.  They could pay off that debt, put the kids through college, possibly buy a home, or even start and expand a business.  This money could be used for many things.

SCAMMER PHONE LIST

We are starting a list of known and new scammers.  Basically these are people who call you to SCAM you money or your personal information.

In this project we will be:

  1. Mass calling them back and jam up their lines, which will prevent them from calling back out for a period of time.  This will also run up their phone bills.
  2. Do a mass complaint to the correct govermental agencies and shut them down.
  3. Possibly do a joint lawsuit agsinst them for harrassment and sue for damages.

Why are we doing this?

Simple, it’s about time someone fight back against this crap.  Scammers need to be stopped, and they keep popping up overnight.  They are also causing a lot of innocent people money and their lives.

All you have to do to be part of this is:

  1. Follow us on twitter.  We will do a mass message and tell you when we will be mass calling them back.
  2. Keep a track of all the scammers who call you.  Write down the time of the call and the name of the person you spoke with.

Wachovia Bank SUCKS

Don’t use Wachovia for business banking.  This is as simple as it goes.  We’ve been using wachovia for doing business for over 6 years now.  In our experience we’ve lost thousands of dollars over the years and 1 big repeat customer.  When it comes to doing International Trading where you find customers overseas who wants to buy items from you in the U.S., it’s important to have a good bank that can stand behind you and back you.  We had a situation in the past where we did an order for over $60,000 with one client.  That client was from overseas and wanted to buy a couple containers of computer equipments.  Thanks to Wachovia bank, the transaction fell through due to the LACK OF from their international trade department.  This transaction required the use of a transferrable Letter of Credit that was issued.  We felt so bad for the client becuase they issued the LC and flew around the world to meet with us to do this business transaction to find out after about 2 – 3 weeks that the transaction would NOT go through even after we got confirmation from Wachovia that everything was ok in the wording of the Letter of Credit.  When we needed to transfer the Letter of Credit they also told us EVERYTHING WAS FINE.  After about 48 hours after the transfer began, they then told us that transaction would NOT GO THROUGH due to the wording of the Letter of Credit.  Now, this is from a bank that was sitting on this L/C for all that time and we told them the nature of the business along with the process.   Thanks to Wachovia bank, we lost that client and repeat business every quarter… meaning the customer was to place orders like this every 3-4 months.

For those of you who knows and understands international business, not every customer will fly thousands of miles around the world to meet with you if they were NOT serious about business.  To summarize, this client had to meet a deadline with a university they had a contract with.  Because of Wachovia, we never heard from this customer again by email or phone.  Plus they may have lost their university client that bought all these items from them.

When doing business use a bank that is NOT in financial trouble and have advanced experience in the international arena.  Most of us USA business don’t do business solely in the US, we have clients overseas.  With the way the US economy is right now, finding global clients is a very good idea.  Using a bank like HSBC or Citibank is a great choice when it comes to anything in the international business area.  They are much larger and have a better understanding where that is concerned.  They may treat you differently because they are much bigger, but what we all really want is MONEY.. not customer service.  We want to make money and know that the money is safe.  To really look at things from a different level, we are in business to make money and not customer service.  We would rather see higher interests on our money in our accounts rather than higher customer service and lower interest.  When it comes to paying bills, can you pay them with money or customer service?

If wachovia does see this information posted ,we have all the proof and witnesses to show your incompetience and our loss.  The purpose of you being the bank is to ensure safety of our money and to help us make more money.  Ultimately, you make money when we make money.
